A great message from Ron Hutchcraft...starts out like this.  Titled...No Such Thing As Getting Away With It.

She's one of those ladies with an infectious laugh and a lot of mischief in her eyes. Recently, she painted a word picture of an incident from her childhood that left us all really laughing. She was three, her brother was four; the youngest of eleven children. One day the two youngsters were watching ice skaters on TV, and that inspired her brother to suggest that they try to ice skate in the kitchen by spreading butter across the entire kitchen floor. And that's what they did - laughing all the way. They were having a ball, sliding across that floor like future Olympians, until Mom walked in. They "skated" over to the corner farthest from the door as their mother headed toward them with fire in her eyes. She didn't have her skates on. She fell to the floor. The kids laughed, and Mom couldn't get to them to punish them! Wrong. She went out and got a bucket of hot water and started cleaning the butter off the kitchen floor. She began at the kitchen door and steadily worked her way to the corner where two children cowered; their entire short lives flashing before them. There was no escape...........................     Rest of article..  HERE

Albert and Dee Dee Pujols: Giving Honor to God, 1

Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Like many kids in the Dominican Republic, Albert had a dream — and that dream was to play professional baseball. Today, you’ll see a side of a major leaguer who despite fame, fortune, and MVP status remains true to his family, marriage, and his faith in Christ. Dr. James Dobson discusses things that matter with St. Louis Cardinal Slugger, Albert Pujols and his wife Dee Dee.
"When people come to me and say, 'Man, you're amazing, you're my hero,' I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm your hero, but God is MY hero, and that's who your hero should be.'" -- Albert Pujols

Nicaragua itinerary.   Looks like one of the stops will be the dump.  The dump is a place that is searched continually (usually by the children) for anything that can be sold.  Many families will put up a tin roof and live there.

One of the projects we will visit on Monday.  Your Compassion sponsorship provides hope and a future.  Especially, an eternal future in heaven for those that receive the gift of eternal life.  The gospel is shared as a part of Compassion's involvement with the kids.

We went to the mall again yesterday to share the gospel.  Talked to Buddists and a lot of agnostics.

Visitors in our front yard tonight.  Yes, that is snow....UGH.

01/26/07

Ran again today before the snow tomorrow..UGH.  Garmin data    3.2miles...moving time 28min,59sec....moving average 6.6miles/hr.....  max speed 14.9mph.   Max elevation was 6700 ft(hard run due to starting elevation of 6530 ft).

More wedding pics.................    Our wedding day.   Anyone else with old wedding pics?  Send them to me and I will post it.

Checking the stats for the 1/2 Marathon...   going to set a goal of breaking 2 hours.  I would have to run at around 9 minute miles to get it done..and I should be able to do it(unless I have the Big One).  The Bix at that pace,  would be 63 minutes...not great, but doable.     13.1miles X 9 minute miles= around 118minutes.  Good goal anyway.  Actually, if I finish, that would be a good thing.

Guess what the prediction is again for this Saturday???  Can't believe it...

OK.         Time to spill the beans on the BIG NEWS!!!   Anika got engaged a couple of nights ago!  Very exciting....we are very happy for both Anika and Josh.  May God bless their upcoming wedding.  More details to follow... or you can check out Anika's blog at.......   http://anilin23.livejournal.com/

Beautiful day....ran from the house to the Walgreens on Centennial and back....

Elevation is 6501feet ... pics below of the run..check out the Walgreens on Centennial.

Had not posted lately because our internet connection was down...UGH.  Not only that, our home phone would not work because we have Vonage.  And, of course, my cell phone was not working because it got washed.  And I had Connie's cell phone yesterday, and the place I was working was  a dead spot for cell phones......so we were disconnected from the outside world!    Anyway, the cable company came today and fixed our wires outside..have a Comcastic day!

I have a new cell phone now.  An LG 6100.  Not a fancy phone at all, but it does have a speakerphone, and WORKS!

Have some big news....but will have to share it later.  BIG DETAILS to follow.

Last night... must be a streak(to the right of the star) from a plane...or maybe a UFO?

Snowing again....so had to run the treadmill.  45minutes at incline 5.5...4.5miles.  Not as good a running outside, but better than nothing.  If this weather does not get better, it may be difficult to train for the 1/2 marathon.  We will see.

Sunset in Monument last night.

Dinner and cards at the Carpenters last night.  Nice to know some folks who play Euchre...probably cuz they are from Minnesota.

Looks like I am hiking Quandry on March 1st...Unless it snows a bunch..  Don't want to get caught in an avalanche. This is one of the easier 14'ers, but still should be a challenge.  Click on the picture below for info on the  mountain.

We will be leaving for Nicaragua in a couple of weeks on a Compassion Advocate trip.  While there, we will visit student centers, meet the country field staff and see all the kids.  I hope to take a bunch of pictures to use in upcoming Compassion presentations.  It is an awesome thing to see what God , Compassion and your sponsorship is doing for the kids.  Pictures to follow.  For those of you who are not sponsoring a child through Compassion, please consider it.  The life that will be forever changed could be your own.

Looks like the weather will be hot in Managua.  in the 90's!  It will be a welcome relief from the cold and snow we have been having in Colorado.

A shot of  one of our "buddies" in the front yard this afternoon.

Well, Matt Layman has challenged me to run a 1/2 Marathon with him in April.  Not sure if an old man like me can get in shape to do it, but we will see.  Training updates to follow.  I have been running on the treadmill a bunch because of the weather.  Ran for a 1/2 hour yesterday(about 3 miles).  Gonna run another 1/2 hour tonight.
